The primary goal of the Legislative Committee is to monitor actions and progress of current elected officials and elected bodies at the local and state level.
Chair: Linda Irvin-Craig -
Member activities include:
Attend the pre- and post-legislative sessions held in Washington County by our state delegation. Follow newspaper accounts and on-line progress of local legislation and the voting records of our State Senators and State Delegates, during State Legislative Session (January to April).
Attend open sessions of the Washington County Commissioners and participate during segments for Citizen Participation to comment and ask questions. Report on issues and progress.
Follow activities, when possible, of any or all of the Mayor and Council meetings in the nine municipalities.
Attend local elected School Board meetings and report on issues and progress.
Monitor progress of the Washington County Democratic Central Committee and assist, when possible, with specific projects of that group.
Share observations of citizens at these meetings who may be developed into potential candidates for any of the offices above.
True unalienable rights do not require one to trample other unalienable rights.

Many believe effective networking is done face to face, building a rapport with someone by looking at them in the eye, leading to a solid connection and foundational trust.
